Wallets, by chain

A wallet holds keys, not coins. Here is the right one for each network, and where each falls short.

A wallet holds keys, not coins

Your crypto lives on the blockchain and never leaves it. The wallet stores the key that authorizes moving it. Once that clicks, everything else about wallets makes sense.

It explains why uninstalling the app changes nothing, why your recovery phrase works in a completely different wallet from a different company, and why losing that phrase means the funds sit visible on the chain forever, permanently unreachable.

The one rule
Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your recovery phrase. Not support, not a developer, not an airdrop, not a moderator who messaged you first. Every single request is theft.
By blockchain

The right wallet for each network

Wallets are not universal. A Solana wallet cannot hold Bitcoin, and an Ethereum wallet cannot hold Solana tokens. One wallet does cover every EVM chain, which is dozens of networks at once.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin wallets are a separate world. Use a Bitcoin native wallet rather than forcing an EVM wallet to do it.

Ethereum and EVM

One wallet covers every EVM chain. You add networks rather than installing new wallets.

Solana

Solana uses a different key format, so you need a Solana capable wallet even if you already have MetaMask.

Base

Base is an EVM chain, so any EVM wallet works. Coinbase Wallet and the Base App make transfers from Coinbase easiest.

Cosmos and IBC

Cosmos chains share one wallet standard, so Keplr covers Osmosis, Celestia, Injective and dozens more.

TON

TON wallets live partly inside Telegram, which is unusual and very convenient.

Sui and Aptos

Both use the Move language and each has its own wallet ecosystem, separate from EVM.

Multi chain

If you want one app for everything, expect to trade some depth per chain for that convenience.

Wallet installed, seed phrase backed up correctly, hardware wallet paired if you have one, and a test transaction completed. About an hour, and you will not have to wonder whether you did it right.
